NetDespatch Celebrates 15 Years in the Cloud

Unbenannt

NetDespatch, one of the pioneers of SaaS and Business Cloud, is celebrating 15 years of service to postal and parcel carriers across the globe.   Founded in 1999, the UK based company was formed to leverage the huge potential of the internet for parcel shipping and tracking, and was among the first to develop ‘Software as a Service’ (SaaS) solutions.

Today, more than 130,000 customers of postal and parcel carriers, including most major High Street brands, use NetDespatch to manage millions of deliveries each year through carriers such as Royal Mail, New Zealand Post, La Poste, Yodel and APC Overnight.   The web technology developed by NetDespatch has had a big impact on the parcel delivery sector, driving up customer service expectations from both consumers and retailers. It has also allowed new business models to be brought to market quickly, and operators to expand, without the heavy investment and operational restrictions imposed by conventional IT systems.

The boom in home shopping has had a significant impact on this sector, and NetDespatch has posted 60 per cent year-on-year transaction growth for the last two years, with carriers currently requesting access to the company’s service for new customers at the rate of more than 1,000 per month.   Postal and parcel carriers use NetDespatch to provide their customers with a powerful and flexible shipping, tracking and systems integration platform. Their customers (shippers) use the system free of charge, through any web interface, depending every day on NetDespatch for a seamless connection between their channel, sales order and warehouse systems (e.g. ChannelAdvisor, Magento, StoreFeeder and Orderwise) and their parcel carrier, as well as the production of barcoded labels, customs documents and collection manifests.

NetDespatch continues to lead the market through technology innovation. The most recent developments include an out-of-the-box IT solution for organisations wishing to provide a ‘Click and Collect’ network, and the creation of a global community of carriers using the NetDespatch Intelligent Vendor Selection option to provide cost-effective management of cross-border collection and delivery partners.

Becky Clark, NetDespatch CEO says: “The future for NetDespatch is looking very exciting. The latest IMRG figures indicate that, in the UK alone, 940 million parcels will be despatched this year, up 19 percent on the previous year. Our primary focus is to support that growth within our existing customer base, but we are also progressing new opportunities in the fast growing markets in Asia and North America.”
